To lose one's voice through cancer,
is horrifying to say the least.
The voice no more, that once romancer,
now emotions trapped, by that cancerous beast.

They fitted me a robotic voice,
and I learned to speak again.
A flat monotone, I had no choice
but no emotion could it attain.

So writing was my godsend,
and to University I went,
to learn to rhyme, I did intend,
with long hours in learning spent.

But when my words were spoken,
by another student near,
I saw others look quite broken
as they quietly shed a tear,

My written words had touched them,
more than my voice could ever do
So in this silence, life did condemn,
a pathway to start life anew.
